Jane with OOW

For the past few months, I have been fortunate to be a regular guest on talking about my books and writing career.

It is a fabulous resource for authors, musicians, and worthy causes and I enjoy it a great deal. The internet radio station is not only broadcasting locally but recently it has been attracting interest from America too. It is expanding rapidly and has a massive reach and therefore it is a worthy opportunity for authors and others to reach a wider audience.

Being a local station there are many events taking place locally that they advertise and cover and they are very supportive of their local communities, as I said. Chatandspin radio is not my local internet station but I am reliably told they reach several million in my own region weekly.

Here are some of my interviews for you to enjoy. Local radio is doing it for the community!!

Especially now when we are in Lock-down whilst the Coronavirus C-19 is raging, listen to your local radio, read books and escape to a better time and place. Have fun.

    • Ah thanks Gilli, it was fun but it is nerve-wracking. I am much better on the USA radio interview and had to read some of OOW for 2 mins. The thing is timing. You know you have x amount of time to answer questions and give info as well as sell the books. So it is all timed and I am conscious of the clock ticking.

  1. Well done Jane! What’s it like to do the interviews? Whilst driving etc I always listen to the radio and the publicity for authors is terrific as I’ve come away with lots of ideas for new books to read.

    • Annika, thanks. It is fun to do them, although one never knows what sort of questions will be asked and sometimes – in my case – I’d love to give them a few hints. Local radio is fun, I often listen in to the interviews before mine so I can get the gist of it all. It is similar to the radio interviews I used to sit in on when on tour with our bands in the USA etc where the bands would be interviewed live in the studio or from the bus or even in their beds. Strange things were asked. strange people asked them! Imagine a rock band chatting about their album and suddenly they are asked to ‘guess the sex of the baby XXX is having in so many months!’ The station had competitions running for pregnant women to ring in with due dates and the guests had to guess the delivery date/baby sex and they’d win a load of albums and so on…all unnerving.

      • Yikes! I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at your rock band interview and being landed with that question out of the blue! Is it quite tat obtuse as a writer? No wonder you like to give some hints of qestions to ask!

        • LOL Annika, I could write a book! Seriously, you have no idea what it is like with a band and trying not to get arrested or the radio station shut down, but with UK local radio, so far so good. But I do want to give them a list as sometimes it is quite hard going. The American station, theauthorsshow is another matter, totally professional. Having said this both sorts of station are great for different reasons and I go with the flow.
