We kept diaries with all our secrets…
Hello,
We are Renza Rossi

and Stella Deacon

Like most girls in the 1960s we kept diaries.

Properly written diaries – with daily entries from 1968 through to the end of the decade, chronicling our life, the fashions, the music, the excitement – and our love affairs….Which, is just as well – because although we didn’t know it, and we certainly didn’t know each other, miles apart geographically and with totally different lifestyles, we were both in love with the same boy…How this came about, the ups and downs, the laughter, the tears, the heartbreak, and how it was resolved – all played out to a 1960s background of love and peace and rock’n’roll – is covered in the amalgamation of our diaries – which we’ve put together and called
ONLY ONE WOMAN.

We very much hope that we’ve whetted your appetite and you’re now longing to read our story.
With love,
Renza and Stella XXX

I have kept a daily diary for the last 20 years or so it was my aunt who encouraged me to do as she did..she also told me not to write anything in my diary that would distress anyone who read them after I had passed away and I have always stuck to that…it is also handy if I need to look back for something…lol

Carol, it is fun keeping them but yes, putting stuff in there can cause problems if anyone gets hold of them to read, and I guess once you are dead it is not possible to explain stuff. But looking back is great, instant transportation. x

It is such a habit with me now, Jane I don’t think I could stop but it may make interesting reading at some point for my family 🙂 x

LOL don’t you wish you could be a fly on the wall as and when! I may destroy mine long before then. x

It’s very interesting, Jane. Yes, I wrote diaries with my secret too, 😃. I don’t know where the earlier one went though. ☺️

They must get lost in house moves I guess. I have so many it is becoming a nuisance re storage as they come in all sizes and thicknesses. It is fun to go back and read your younger self isn’t it? did you hide your diaries Miriam? Mine were under loose floorboards.

It was refreshing to read my diaries of my younger self. I didn’t bring them when I came to the US as a student 40+ years ago. I continued to write though. Yes, my diaries and notebooks are in all sizes. I have fun shopping for new notebooks and journal every year.

Oh don’t get me started on notebooks and journals. I have heaps and some are pristine. Another fetish lol

There are only 5 weeks into the year. I started 3 journals with different covers and made tabs already. 😃

You are industrious. I am not having such a productive time, putting things off all the time. Unusual for me. x

In fact, I had a hard time concentrating until a couples of weeks ago. To help with my scattered thoughts, I used different journals to take notes so I could find them afterwards.

Great idea, but I am never that organised. I hate taking a clean new journal and writing in it. Love the pristine pages and I start of with my best handwriting and slowly all goes down hill lol x

I start a new journey with careful longhand also, Jane, and went into scribbling soon. I only use news journal when the old ones are almost used up. 😊

I have been typing since age 11 and it was only for work I used it daily, now there is the internet and computers rule, I find I am typing more and writing less and my writing has gone kaput!

I use my computer most of the time for writing. My short term memory is not reliable, so I use journal to take notes or make todo list. I make todo list every day for years and check off when done. I find it helpful to track myself.

I have my diary for lists, never manage to do everything on them but it helps. Long list this week. x

I can be flexible with the journals. 💖

Being a writer one has to be flexible I’ve learned. Physically, not so! lol

I understand, Jane. Some writers talk about getting up at 4am, 5am, or 6am to write for a few hours. When I couldn’t sleep and woke up early, I tried to get to write but the mind didn’t cooperate. I just realized I’m not a morning person all my life and my body doesn’t want to start at this point. 😅

I used to work all night and part of the day when in music and so my body clock is kaput. But I do wake up half way through the night now and if I get up I cannot write either. I could about 5 years ago, but now I am like a zombie. You cannot force yourself to chqnge your body clock.

I used to take medication for sleep. But it was addictive and took me two years to wean off. Since then, my sleep during the last 3 or 4 years has been irregular. I can’t think when I don’t get good sleep.
I’m writing a little for a book but not every day is productive. I make sure to blog every week to do short writing.

It is a pain. I have never got more than about 4 hours per night and never all in one go. I just live with it now and I don’t have a little kip during the day, either. Yes, some writing, any writing it good to keep your hand in. I keep getting side-tracked. I hope today is a grat day. x

It’s the same here, Jane. Four or five hours is the most I have. I didn’t sleep through last night, so it’s inconsistent. I don’t worry about it now as long as I got some sleep. I lay in bed after I wake up though to great my body and my eyes since I look at the computer many hours during the day.
I hope you have a great day. I saw you made a post. I’ll read it after my coffee.💗

I know how much sitting in front of the computer costs us all. But we are stuck, the genie is out of the bottle. Enjoy your coffee. xx
