Thank You For Purchasing and Borrowing My Work…

Wow, it has been a fabulous few months, and I want to thank everyone who has purchased copies of Only One Woman, and Undercover: Crime Shorts, in paperback, and eBook.

Also, thank you for purchasing many of the anthologies in which I have contributed stories, some have been on sale in aid of various charities, such as Help4Heroes, The Children’s Charity, and various Veterans Charities. Much appreciated.

Sales around the world have crept up and I am chuffed that people are reading my work in places I never imagined and who are fans of England, in the late 1960s – Only One Woman.
I really appreciate it, and I would love to know which books/short stories you’ve read and what you think of them.
Only One Woman, and Undercover: Crime Shorts are available from many outlets, not only on Amazon. You can find them on various digital platforms, and also via placing an order in book stores, such as Waterstones, Blackwell’s, Foyles, and in some cases WH Smith, etc.
Short stories are enjoyed all over the world and crime stories are incredibly popular, thankfully.

I love reading both short stories and novels. I am a reading addict. Not only are my shelves filled with paperbacks and hardbacks, but I also have boxes of them all over.
I need a building just for my book collection.

Don’t even ask how many books I have on my Kindle – to be read pile – I feel overwhelmed every time I open it up.
Undercover: Crime Shorts is being used this Fall (Autumn 2021) and beyond at Western Kentucky University (KT, USA), in an Introduction to Literature class with second-year students.

I really appreciate the messages on Facebook and my website, and the letters I receive telling me how much they have enjoyed Undercover: Crime Shorts. I loved putting the short stories together and it was difficult to pick which I should include. I have so many. But, I am so thrilled those included have been so well received. I hope to compile another collection soon.

Only One Woman (paperback) was #7 in Germany on Amazon recently, which is a thrill. Many of the chapters in Renza’s diary are set in Germany, in a village (back then) which is a small town now, called Wetter Ruhr. I imagine readers in Germany can relate to the experiences of young Renza in 1968/69, in an area of the Ruhr Valley that was flooded by the Dam Busters and their bouncing bomb in WW2.

There are many locations overseas and in England, where we’ve set Only One Woman. Readers have mentioned (to me) that they can identify with these especially: Jersey in the Channel Islands, Elgin, and Wick in Scotland, the Isle of Wight, Brighton, Dunstable, and Leighton Buzzard, and not forgetting Reading and Sandhurst in Berkshire, as well as Frankfurt and Kaiserslautern, Iserlohn, Hagan, and Bielefeld in Germany.

The Kasbah in Tangier gets a mention, and who can forget a Mediterranean cruise and the many locations visited, including Madeira, Naples, and Corsica.
Fun places visited at one of the most exciting times in the 20th century when music and fashion creativity was at its zenith and social upheaval and change were everywhere.

It is wonderful to know that we have readers in so many wonderful countries including India and Singapore. Thanks for joining in the adventures of Renza and Stella.

I also want to say thanks to the many of you who have visited public libraries and have taken Only One Woman and Undercover: Crime Shorts, out on loan, either in paperback or digitally.
Sometimes, I think people forget you can borrow my – and other writer’s – books from public libraries in the UK/Ireland, and that libraries are wonderful for supporting authors by holding events where a guest author is invited to give a talk about their books, answer questions, and of course sell copies, sign them, and generally meet their readers face to face.
Over the years I’ve attended many such events as a reader. Peter James, Sara Paretsky, Caroline Graham, Dorothy Koomson, and Caro Frazer who sadly died last year, plus many others.

Thank you to all those of you who have written to me with requests to sign and dedicate books for friends and family and who have sent me their copies for their special messages.

And, not forgetting those of you who have ordered my mugs and mouse mats too. Thank you so much and I appreciate your letters telling me how much you are enjoying them, and what lovely gifts they make.

I know many of you are interested in my former career in the international music industry judging by the requests for my memoirs, which I’m flattered anyone would want to read, but in the meantime, you can read about some of my experiences and adventures in my regular series for The Writers’ and Readers’ Magazine, called In the Mix.
So, once again thanks to each and every reader for making the last few months special. Thanks to book stores, public lending libraries, and to all those whose support means so much. An enormous thanks to those who not only read but write such wonderful reviews. You rock!
I’d also like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas, Happy Festive Season, and a safe and healthy 2022. Things can only get better.
THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING HERE WITH ME AND FOLLOWING MY POSTS. YOU ARE STARS.
Please wish me luck with Ms. Birdsong Investigates (the series) which I hope will be published end of 2022/early 2023.

Jo, it is weird how things go. I cannot get my head around it. All of a sudden selling 30 books in one day!! And of course, PLR has come in and that was something else. I imagine being stuck at home has had a lot to do with it but I am grateful and appreciate it considering the choice readers have. I wish much success for you in 2022, it is a hard slog as we both know. I hope all is good with you. Have a fab December. xx
